Homemade marinara is easier than you think and sure takes your pasta dishes to the next level.

Serves: about 8 cups
Ingredients
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1-2 sweet onions, minced
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • ½ c red wine
  • 29 oz tomato sauce
  • ¼ c of roasted red pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 t basil, dried (or 1 T fresh)
  • 1 t oregano, dried (or 1 T fresh)
  • Kosher salt
  • Pepper
Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan saute the onions and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until the onions become translucent but don’t brown, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add wine, tomato sauce, roasted red pepper (if using) basil and oregano. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Using an immersion blender, puree the sauce to your desired consistency.
  5. Serve with your favorite pasta dish.
