Recipe type: Sandwiches, Burgers, & Wraps
Serves: 2 burgers
Ingredients
  • 4-8 slices bacon
  • 1 onion, diced
  • ⅔ lb ground beef, loosely formed into 2 – ⅓ lb balls
  • Kosher salt
  • pepper
  • 2 buns
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 10,000 Lakes Burger Sauce
Instructions
  1. Heat flattop griddle, cast iron griddle, or large cast iron pan over medium-low heat (300 degrees).
  2. Lay bacon across the entire flattop or pan - you need 4 slices for the burgers, the rest is to season the cooking surface for later. The amount you need will depend on the size of you cooking vessel. Cook bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towel lined plate. Leave grease on griddle.
  3. Sauté onions in bacon grease until starting to brown. Remove onions to a plate or bowl.
  4. Increase heat to medium/medium high (about 375 degrees).
  5. Place burgers onto griddle. Immediately squish with a steak/burger press or heavy cast iron skillet to form a patty – think a little larger than your bun. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. While burgers cook, toast the buns on the back of the griddle. Optionally butter the buns first.
  7. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on the first side. Flip. Cook 1 to 2 minutes. Top with cheddar cheese. Cover with tented tinfoil or a metal bowl and cook until cheese melts, about 2 minutes.
  8. Spread top and bottom bun with 10,000 Lakes Burger Sauce, to your taste. Top bottom bun with fried onion.
  9. Add burger to bun. Top with 2 slices of bacon. You can use more than 2 slices of bacon or save the restt for another use.
  10. Dig in.
