Recipe type: Cookies & Bars
Serves: 24-30 bars
Ingredients
  • Bars:
  • 2 c flour
  • ¾ t salt
  • ¼ t baking soda
  • 1-1/3 c brown sugar
  • ½ c butter, melted and cooled
  • ½ c maple syrup
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c chopped & peeled apples, about 3 medium
  • Maple Glaze:
  • ¼ c butter
  • ½ c maple syrup
  • ¼ c brown sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Mix together flour, salt and baking soda, set aside.
  3. Beat together brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, and vanilla until well blended. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients and beat just until combined.
  4. Fold in the apples by hand.
  5. Spread in the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the bars comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Start the glaze as soon the bars come out of the oven. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in syrup and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Continue to cook for 2-3 minutes to thicken. Pour over the still warm blondies.
  8. Allow to cool completely. Remove from pan using the parchment and slice into bars.
