Copycat Arby’s Roast Beef Sandwiches

January 14, 2015 by Dana 2 Comments

After Santa got Derek some Arby’s sauce for Christmas last year we had to figure out the best way to replicate the rest of the Arby’s sandwich at home.  We spent a ton of time on google looking for recipes for their meat or the perfect roast.  We tried deli-meat and it was pretty good, but finally I decided to try my recipe for Perfect Roast Beef and it turned out perfect for these sandwiches.

Arbys-1

Whether or not you decide you want to make the copycat sauce that goes along with these sandwiches, you’ll want to pay attention to the method for heating the sandwiches up.  This method would work great for just a meat and cheese sandwich with mayo/mustard/barbecue sauce added after it comes out of the oven.  Switch up the meat too – try a ham and cheese!

Here’s what you need for the sandwiches:

Arbys-2

Note to anyone who has Arby’s sauce, do NOT microwave the bottle trying to warm up the sauce.  I’m using leftover Perfect Roast Beef that I sliced and froze, but feel free to use shaved deli roast beef (it’s very important to ask for it shaved – you want that ultra-thin slice).

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and it’s time to start making sandwiches.  Rip off a square of tinfoil and open up a bun on it.   I highly recommend the King’s Hawaiian sandwich rolls, but any soft bun will do.  Top with as much roast beef as you want.

Arbys-5

Wrap the tinfoil around the sandwich and place on a baking sheet.

Arbys-6

Bake for 10 minutes.  This is enough time to gently warm up the meat and the bread.  Unwrap the sandwiches.

Arbys-7

Now it’s time to add the Arby’s sauce to the bun.  I don’t do this before I bake the sandwiches because then the sauce soaked into the bun too much for my liking.

Arbys-8

I haven’t figured out how to copycat Arby’s curly fries and I generally don’t deep fry at home so for now we’ll have to live with serving this sandwich with fresh fruit and some chips.  I did get a spiralizer for Christmas though so maybe I’ll try my hand at a copycat baked curly fry sometime soon.

Enjoy!  These really hit the spot for a quick warm sandwich when you want something homemade but don’t want to spend a lot of time or effort.

Here’s the link to my Copycat Arby’s Sauce if you want to try that out on the sandwiches.
