Individual Caramel Apple Snickers Trifles

December 31, 2015 by Dana 1 Comment

We have the best New Year’s Eve tradition that we share with my in-laws.  We get together deep fry chicken strips, French fries, have all kinds of good food and dessert and then we hang out and play games until midnight, take a break to count down, and play some more games.  It’s the perfect night for me, I’m not a big drinker or a big partier and a low key evening having fun with my family is absolutely the perfect thing to do.

On evenings like this I love to have an easy dessert, something that people can grab whenever they get hungry and I don’t need to spend time plating and serving.  These individual caramel apple snickers trifles are perfect for that. We don’t even need to stop the games; people can just grab one out of the fridge whenever they want.

Apple-Snickers-Trifle-1

The first time I made these was for Easter along with a couple other kinds.  They have a nice crunchy vanilla wafer crust, a creamy cream cheese layer, topped with crunchy green apples, caramel and snickers.  A winning combination to ring in the New Year with.

Here’s what you need:

Start by making the cream cheese layer.  Beat some softened cream cheese until it’s nice and fluffy.  Then beat in some powdered sugar and vanilla. Finally gently fold in the Cool-Whip.

Now it’s time to assemble the trifles.  I used one pint wide mouth mason jars.  I do realize that a trifle generally means a layered dessert – well as you’ll notice, I got a little liberal in the size of my layers so I was only able to fit in one of each layer.  The first layer is crushed vanilla wafers.

Next is a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture.

Add some chopped green apples.  I cut them up small and then tossed them with some lemon juice so they wouldn’t brown.

Next comes a drizzle of caramel and another drizzle of chocolate sauce.

And finally fill in whatever room you have left in the jar with snickers.

Allow the desserts to chill in the fridge until ready to serve. These can be made the day before if you want so you can enjoy the New Year’s Eve with your friends and family.

A tasty single serve dessert with crumbled cookies, cream cheese, caramel, apple and snickers. I used one pint mason jars so figure about ⅓ c of the cookies, whipped topping and apples per layer.
